Board Candidates

The Red Mountain Ranch Owners' Association has three candidates running for this year's openings on the Board of Directors. See below for more information on each of this year's candidates.

Faith Carroll

Candidate Biography:

I would first describe myself as a devoted mother and a grandmother, as in my opinion there is no greater responsibility or joy than raising children, and the skills involved are beyond the scope of this description(!). Second, my career as a nurse and nurse practitioner has been a great source of pride and life skills.  To be trusted with the most intimate parts of peoples' lives and experiences is a great honor and privilege, and I have treated these with the utmost care, concern, and dedication.  I am also a flawed human, which is humbling, but I believe it keeps me teachable and open to the expertise and life lessons of others.

What is your motivation for volunteering to serve on the HOA Board and what do you hope to bring to the Board if elected?

My motivation is to serve my community and maintain the high standard of living that we enjoy in Red Mountain Ranch.

What is/was your occupation and how does this support your qualifications to be on the Board?

My experience as both a psychiatric nurse and a psychiatric nurse practitioner has required me to hone my skills in attention to detail, working as a team member, using critical thinking to gather information and make complex decisions, and accurately document all of the above.   In the hospital setting I frequently served as the charge nurse, meaning that I led the nursing team, and as a nurse practitioner and part of an interdisciplinary team it was my role to advocate for the patient, especially in regard to prescribing and overseeing the use of psychiatric medications.

Briefly describe your experience working in or leading groups as it pertains to discussing and resolving complex issues.

I have experience serving on the Board of Governors for my former condominium assocation, which I thoroughly enjoyed.  Being an active member of my community and learning what goes into keeping it financially solvent, organized, and functioning to the expected standards enriched my life by widening the scope of my understanding and providing meaningful connections to my fellow members.  Discussing and resolving complex issues requires active listening, clear articulation, willingness to consider and understand opposing viewpoints, and compromise.  I hope to continue to hone these skills and seek out opportunities that allow me to do so.

How would you balance the needs of individual homeowners with the best interests of the entire community?

I beleive that the the best interests of the entire community serve the needs of the individual.  That being said, the needs of individuals must be considered carefully.  In answer to the specific question asked, I would balance the needs of the individual homeowners with the best interests of the community with thought and care.

Do you have experience with budgeting and/or financial oversight for a large scale HOA or similar organization?  If not, are you willing to learn, and rely on experts?

I do not have experience with the above but am certainly willing to learn and rely on experts.   The treasurer of our condo association devoted many hours to maintaining records and accurately relating the information to our Board.  I so admired her commitment and abilities, and knew that they were vital to making the decisions that were our responsibility.
